Palmss Magazine

Creative Direction, Art Direction, Design, Photography, Editorial

Palmss Magazine is an annual publication highlighting the work and creative processes of artists of color. While living in Los Angeles and developing my own creativity, I was inspired by perspective other artists shared with me and came up with the idea for Palmss. Soon after, I launched a successful Kickstarter campaign and was able to raise $3k to fund the first issue.

From 2016-2018, I published three issues of Palmss. Each issue features interviews with noteworthy creators, as well as submissions from poets, photographers, illustrators, and essayists. Working as both Creative Director and Editor-in-chief, I designed the visual identity of the publication, including but not limited to, images, colors, font, and logos. I also executed the editorial design for each issue, as well as photography of the featured creators. I also conducted and edited interviews with featured creators, and evaluated and edited submitted pieces.

In addition to magazine production, I hosted launch events for each issue, even collaborating with Urban Outfitters and Topo to host an issue launch event in Los Angeles. Further, I secured wholesale distribution for Palmss in 27 retailers across five countries.
